Are you on board the Sustain train? SustainTM, A.S.P.E.N.’s national patient registry database, has just celebrated its second birthday. That’s two years of striving to improve the lives of patients on home parenteral nutrition. To mark this event, we pulled together some of the major highlights of data captured since the patient registry’s beginning.
The data collected through SustainTM will help organizations make better-informed patient treatment decisions, support the appropriate use of nutrition support therapy, and help translate results into improved patient outcomes. Because patients on HPN are often sent back to their daily lives without national benchmarking, a lot of data is lost, which is why Sustain is so important.
Currently, 28 large medical centers, hospitals, and home infusion agencies are actively providing data and another 31 sites in the process of gaining approval to participate. To date, data on more than 860 patients have been tracked.
