Each year, A.S.P.E.N. awards a free annual membership to up to 10 students through our Student Sponsorship Program. The application period is now open for 2015 and interested students should submit by Monday, February 9, 2015 to Carolyn Woods, Member Engagement Manager, at [email protected]. Submissions must include:
- An essay of 500 words or less addressing why you are interested in clinical nutrition and/or nutrition support and who has stimulated your interest in clinical nutrition and/or nutrition support
- A letter from your school’s dean or department chair confirming your status as an undergraduate or graduate student, taking a minimum of 12 credit hours. Please see A.S.P.E.N.’s chart to determine if you are eligible for student membership.
The essays will be reviewed by the A.S.P.E.N. Membership Committee and selected students will be notified by March 6, 2015.
Selected students will receive an annual student membership in A.S.P.E.N. which includes:
- Electronic subscriptions to industry-leading peer-reviewed publications, the Journal of Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (JPEN) and Nutrition in Clinical Practice (NCP).
- Access to ASPENConnect, a secure online forum for sharing ideas, getting advice and interacting with healthcare professionals worldwide. It also features a job board and a member directory. This is an exclusive member benefit-and more than 3,000 individuals are enrolled.
- Membership in Sections that provide opportunities to increase professional knowledge and interact with others who share the same interests and challenges.
- The ability to join chapters and network with local clinical nutrition providers. There are 32 chapters in the U.S. that carry out the mission and strategic goals of the national organization.
- Opportunities to participate in career-enhancing learning experiences through face-to-face, virtual and self-directed online learning. Expert speakers, education, workshops and networking opportunities with colleagues are available. A.S.P.E.N. members receive discounted registration or free registration to some “Hot Topic” webinars.
