A.S.P.E.N. is dedicated to the advancement of clinical nutrition and metabolism through original research to advance patient care. Through various awards and grants, the A.S.P.E.N. Rhoads Research Foundation and A.S.P.E.N.’s Research Section continue to ensure the pioneers of nutrition support are recognized for their dedication to the development of clinical nutrition.
Candidates for the 2016 Harry M. Vars Award presented their manuscripts on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Premier Nutrition and Metabolism Research Paper Session and Vars Award Competition at Clinical Nutrition Week in Austin, Texas. The intensive competition was moderated by Dr. Anne Tucker and Dr. Lauren Beckman.
The winner of the Vars Award was announced by Dr. Peter Nichol, Vice Chair of A.S.P.E.N.’s Research Committee, during the Rhoads Lecture on Tuesday, January 19. The 2016 Promising Investigator Award, which is the award given to the runner-up to the Vars Award, was also announced.
